Volvo launches V40 Cross Country at Rs 28.5 lakh
New Delhi, June 17, 2013: Volvo Auto India unveiled its V40 Cross Country at a brand new Volvo Cars Showroom, Swede Auto located in Gurgaon.
New Delhi, June 17, 2013: Volvo Auto India unveiled its V40 Cross Country at a brand new Volvo Cars Showroom, Swede Auto located in Gurgaon. The Cross Country, a compact luxury car powered by a 150bhp 2.0-litre engine, is priced at Rs 28.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The V40 Cross Country will be retailed through Volvo’s dealerships across the country starting this month. It will take on the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. Volvo’s pricing is above these two competitors. Volvo Auto India expects 15 percent of sales in the year to come from the V40. Seventy bookings have already been received by the New Delhi dealership.
Speaking at the launch on June 14, Tomas Ernberg, managing director, Volvo Auto India, said, "The Volvo V40 has received the top rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP collision test. The overall result is the best ever recorded by the institute. The car will bring in new impetus to our growth strategy in India.”
Sudeep Narayan, marketing & PR director, added: “The V40 Cross Country will attract the new generation of young, upmarket luxury car buyers primarily because it offers high-end technology, driveability, safety and features parallel to none in this price bracket.”
Volvo Auto India sold 212 units in the last fiscal. The company hopes to launch updates of its other models in the course of the current year. As a strategy, the company is following the CBU route to bring its products here. The company reportedly has a tie-up with Bajaj Allianz for insurance.
