Volvo Eicher sales up 25 percent in January 2015

Continuing with its double-digit growth over the past couple of months, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) has begun calendar year 2015 on a higher note. The company has posted a 25 percent overall sales growth in January 2015 as compared to sales in Janaury 2014.
Eicher-branded trucks and buses have recorded sales of 3,262 units in January 2015 as compared to 2,608 units in January 2014, a significant growth of 25.1 percent.
In the domestic market in the 5-tonnes and above category, Eicher sold 2,905 trucks and buses as compared to 2,322 units in Janaury 2014, up 25.1 percent.
On the export front, the company has notched 24.8 percent growth, shipping 357 units in Janaury 2015 as compared to 286 units in January 2014.
VECV, which has been delivering a strong showing in medium duty trucks, aims to strengthen its presence in the 16-49 tonne medium and heavy commercial vehicles segment.
Last month, the company rolled out its next-generation premium Pro 6000 heavy duty truck in the 25-31T tipper and haulage segment. Besides this, it has already begun conducting market tests of its Pro 8000 heavy duty premium trucks with select customers. These trucks are slated for launch later this year.
In December 2013, the company introduced its all-new product range called the Eicher Pro series comprising 11 new products (both trucks and buses) that cover the 5- to 49-tonne gross vehicle weight range and is now in the process of launching them in phases.
