In a bid to accelerate its growing scooter sales, TVS Motor Company has launched a refreshed version of its Wego scooter, which has also received the India Design Mark (I Mark) award from the India Design Council.
This new model features a digital console with econometer, tubeless tyres, parking brakes and a new exhaust canister. Other than this, the refreshed Wego gets a new set of graphics along with single and dual-tone colour options to choose from.
TVS has equipped the Wego with a re-engineered 110cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder and air-cooled engine, delivering peak power output of 8bhp at 7500rpm. It is the same engine that powers the Jupiter scooter as well and delivers a claimed 62 kilometres per litre.
The 2014 Wego is now available across all company dealerships at a price tag of Rs 46,410 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
TVS’ domestic two-wheeler sales registered a growth of 24 percent in May 2014, increasing from 140,056 units in May 2013 to 174,234 units last month. Scooter sales grew by 60 percent, increasing from 33,747 units in May 2013 to 53,924 units in May 2014. Motorcycle sales grew by 28 percent, increasing from 66,606 units in May 2013 to 85,475 units in May 2014.
