British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph today re-introduced the T100 in India at Rs 778,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), thus expanding the family of modern classic motorcycles in the country.

The manufacturer already sells the Bonneville T120, the Street Twin and the Thruxton R, under its classic range in India. The previous model of the bike was discontinued a few months ago after Triumph launched the new Street Twin and the Bonneville T120.

Commenting on the launch, Vimal Sumbly, MD, Triumph Motorcycles India said: “We have set new standards within the modern classics in India. In the last 3 years of our India operations, over 1,250 customers have become proud owners of Triumph’s classic- range of motorcycles. With the launch of the all new Triumph Bonneville T100, we continue to add market-leading models for riders in India.”

The T100 has been designed taking cues from the original 1959 Bonneville, but borrows certain features from the T120 as well.

Powering the motorcycle is a 900cc parallel twin engine that develops 54hp and a peak torque of 80Nm. The bike gets ABS as standard and is fitted with custom developed Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres as standard, designed especially by Pirelli for the Bonneville family with stiffness and profile changes to the front tyre, and deeper tread on the rear for secure handling and improved durability.

The new T100 is essentially the Street Twin’s engine on the frame of the T120, which makes it the second most affordable offering by the manufacturer in India. With over 150 accessories on offer, it would be interesting to see if the bike could repeat the success of its predecessor, which had helped establish the brand in India.
