Ten days after Toyota Kirloskar Motor opened its sixth Toyota Driving School in Faridabad, the carmaker today opened another facility in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
Present at the inauguration were Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, Minister for Transport, BC Welfare and Empowerment, Handlooms and Textiles – government of Andhra Pradesh; P Srinivas, additional transport commissioner, government of Andhra Pradesh; M Subrahmanyam, dealer principal, Radha Madhav Toyota; MV Srinivas, director and CEO, Radha Madhav Toyota and N Raja, senior VP and director (Sales & Marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
As part of its effort to improve road safety in the country, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched six other driving schools in Kochi, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Faridabad. In line with its vision of ‘Safest Car with Safest Driver’, the Toyota Driving School aims to make every student a responsible and safe driver. The curriculum comprises a comprehensive driver training program involving high quality, practical and futuristic training models like a driver simulator mechanism. To make this experience as realistic as possible, Toyota has incorporated features like IP, steering, and seats of an Etios car. The curriculum covers traffic management, rules and discipline, safe and right driving concepts, manners and responsibilities of a driver, simulation of driving on a real vehicle, all aspects of practical driving on road, driving in various road and climate conditions, basic maintenance and repairs, emergency handling and systematic evaluation and feedback.
Commenting on the launch, M Subrahmanyam, dealer principal, Radha Madhav Toyota, said: “According to recent studies conducted by the city traffic police in Vijayawada, the number of road accidents in the city has increased noticeably in the last two years and is an issue that needs to be addressed promptly. With Toyota Driving School, we are confident that we will be able to make safe and sensible driving an everyday habit for drivers in the city.”
TKM’s N Raja, “We are happy to launch our first driving school in the state of Andhra Pradesh. With accident rates increasing at an alarming rate, road safety is a growing concern in our country. What we need is a multi-sided approach to tackle this issue at many levels. Through extensive training offered by professional trainers and an all-encompassing curriculum comprising of theoretical and practical training, we believe, we impart quality driver training through our driving schools.”
Over 50 Toyota Driving Schools by 2020
Toyota Driving School has till date enrolled over 2,000 students and plans to double this number in 2017. By 2020, the company plans to cross 50 such schools across India. Four more schools are to be opened this year.
