Almost 15,000 out of a total of 38,217 vehicles that Nissan sold in India during 2013-14 were its SUV, the Terrano. That translates to 39 percent of the company’s total sales volume for the fiscal year gone by.
The Japanese OEM’s bet on the SUV segment seems to have worked in playing a key role in its sales mix but it will need to do still better to ramp up overall volumes and increase the Nissan Motor India’s market share. The overall growth of the company’s total sales during 2013-14 stood at a moderate 3.4 percent. During 2012-13, it had sold 36,975 vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Datsun Go, launched on March 19, started its retail drive with sales of 2,072 units. Nissan Motor India’s sales volume for last month was 7,019 units, 4,894 units more than in March 2013.
