Tata Motors has announced the retirement of Ravi Kant, its non-executive vice-chairman, from the company’s board with effect from May 31, 2014 on attaining the age of 70 which is the company’s retirement policy.
The board has placed on record its appreciation of Mr Kant’s contribution during his tenure with the company as managing director from July 29, 2005 to June 1, 2009 and thereafter in his capacity as non-executive vice-chairman.
As managing director, Mr Kant launched Tata-branded buses including the Starbus and Globus range as also the Skool range targeted at school transportation.
Educated at Mayo College, he attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and did his masters in management (Industry) from the Aston University in the UK.
