Tata Motors Group global wholesales at 76,602 in June 2015

The Tata Motors Group, which includes Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), today reported its June 2015 global wholesale numbers. Relative to June 2014, sales remained flat at 76,602 units. Cumulative wholesale for this fiscal is now at 233,487 units, an increase of 2% compared to the same period last year.
Commercial vehicles, sold under the Tata and Tata Daewoo brands, accounted for 31,083 units in June 2015, remaining flat compared to June 2014. This increased the cumulative commercial vehicles wholesale for this fiscal to 86,766 units, only a marginal change from the same period last fiscal.
Global wholesale of all passenger vehicles, including the Tata Motors and JLR brands, was 45,519 units in June 2015, a growth of 3% compared to June 2014. Cumulative passenger vehicles wholesale for this fiscal now stands at 146,721 units, a growth of 4% over Q1 last fiscal.
Looking at the two passenger vehicles brands separately, new launches by Tata Motors in the passenger vehicles space helped increase sales by 29%, compared to June 2014, to 10,611 units in June 2015. Cumulative wholesales for the fiscal are at 32,269 nos., higher by 27%, compared to the same period in the previous fiscal.
The group’s luxury brand, JLR, sold 34,908 vehicles, including sales of CJLR (a JV between JLR and Chery Automobiles in China), a drop of 11.8% from the 39,594 units sold globally in June 2014. The slowdown can be attributed to growing concerns with the Chinese economy and the corresponding decline in demand from the Chinese luxury car market. Jaguar’s wholesale for the month was 7,087 vehicles and cumulative wholesales this fiscal is now at 21,202 vehicles, while Land Rover’s wholesale for the month was 27,821 vehicles, pushing cumulative wholesale for the fiscal up to 93,250 vehicles.
