Suzuki Motorcycle India is driving awareness of road safety and safe riding in association with the ‘Road Safety Week’ (January 11-17), organised by the Delhi Transport Department. According to the company, a variety of educational banners, safety posters, safety films, pocket guides and leaflets related to road safety will be distributed to motorists and pedestrians.
Commenting on the initiative, Atul Gupta, executive vice-president, Suzuki Motorcycle India, said, “As a responsible automobile company, it is imperative that we are active participants in the initiative that educates and encourages people to ride safely. Two-wheeler riders are at a higher risk on the roads. The key to safe riding is a combination of defensive riding, adherence to traffic rules, situational awareness and common road sense. Suzuki is pleased to be associated with an initiative that may save the lives of motorists and pedestrians.”
Anil Chhikara, Motor Licensing Officer, said: “Road safety needs to be inculcated in our daily lifestyle. Any form of transport, whether cars or aircraft, involves risk to human life. We can mitigate these risks by observing traffic rules and alertness as a matter of habit. Disciplined riding and driving and adherence to traffic rules will minimise accidents and occurrence of road rage. A safe and prudent riding/driving culture will make our lives pleasant, energetic and progressive.”
