Steel Strips Wheels bags 150,000 wheel rim order from Peugeot France

Steel Strips Wheels Ltd (SSWL), the Punjab-based automotive steel wheel manufacturer, has bagged an export order for the supply of 150,000 wheel rims to Peugeot France.

Steel Strips Wheels Ltd (SSWL), the Punjab-based automotive steel wheel manufacturer, has bagged an export order for the supply of 150,000 wheel rims to Peugeot France. The size of the deal is around Rs 12.21 crore.

According to company sources, this is the biggest export order after it won a Rs 29.73 crore worth deal to supply car wheel rims to SsangYong Motors Company (SYMC) in Korea in November 2013. With this, SSWL became the first Indian company to supply components to SsangYong.

SSWL’s total wheel rim sales stood at 915,000 units in April 2014, up by 11 percent from 824,000 units it sold in April 2013. In terms of value, the company has registered gross turnover of Rs 99.92 crore compared to Rs 93.66 crore in the same period.

The company’s product range comprises steel wheels for two- and three-wheelers, passenger cars, multi-utility vehicles, tractors and trucks .

SSWL has three production facilities across the country which primarily produce passenger car wheels in Dappar (Punjab) and Oragadam (Chennai) and truck wheels in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). Its manufacturing capacity is 9 million wheels in Dappar, 6 million wheels in Oragadam and 2 million truck wheels in Jamshedpur, amounting to a total capacity of 17 million wheels per annum.
