In an effort to provide new momentum to electric mobility in India, the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles has appointed five industry representatives across vehicle segments.

The Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV), India’s nodal body representing electric EV manufacturers, has announced the setting up of five new verticals across vehicle segments – Heavy Commercial Vehicles, Three-Wheelers, Two-Wheelers, Four-Wheelers and Component Drivetrain.

The Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV), India’s nodal body representing electric EV manufacturers, has announced the setting up of five new verticals across vehicle segments – Heavy Commercial Vehicles, Three-Wheelers, Two-Wheelers, Four-Wheelers and Component Drivetrain.
SMEV has also appointed five new heads for these verticals:
Sushant Nayak of Tata Motors – Heavy Commercial Vehicles segment (e-buses, trucks);
Sulajja Firodia Motwani of Kinetic Green – Three-Wheelers segment (e-rickshaw, L5 auto e-karts);
Manu Sharma of Hero Electric – Two-Wheelers segment (e-cycles to high-speed scooters, motorcycle);
Pawan Sachdeva of Mahindra Electric – Four-Wheelers segment (cars, LCVs on four wheels) and
Guruprasad Pudlapur of Bosch Ltd – Component Drivetrain segment (charging infrastructure, electrical, electronic components except battery).
They will be responsible for:
- Conducting research and meetings on category related affairs while representing SMEV
- Promoting and encouraging industry players to join SMEV
- Focusing on grey areas of any specific category issues
- Building a consensus among the category members on any category specific matter of management committee and present it on any forum/platform
Commenting on the new development, Sohinder Gill, director of SMEV, said, “We are extremely happy to complete 10 years of leading industry body representing electric mobility in India. Our new category heads who will be responsible for their respective segments. The world is warming up to the EV revolution and India is no different. Being at the forefront of electric mobility, we at SMEV will continue to take India towards a sustainable tomorrow.”
Currently, SMEV has more than 40 members including vehicle and component manufacturers.
