Skoda Auto India has clocked its highest ever monthly sales volume of 5,608 vehicles in its two-decade operation in India. On a year-on-year comparison, the March sales have increased almost five-fold, compared to the 1,159 units sold in March 2021. The previous high for the carmaker was 4,923 car sales recorded in June 2012.
Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, “The concerted efforts of the entire team to ensure the successful roll-out of the India 2.0 project is bearing fruit. This project is not only about new platforms and products, but an entire rejuvenation of our business processes. Despite the foreseeable challenges impacting the market sentiments in the short-term, we are confident that 2022 will be the biggest ever year for us in India.”
Moreover, in the January-March 2022 quarter, Skoda Auto India clocked the highest quarterly sales of 13,120 vehicles. In the same period in 2021, it had sold 3,016 cars, recording a growth of more than five-fold on a year-on-year basis.
According to the company, the success of some of the recent launches including Slavia, uptick in Kodiaq and performance of the Kushaq since its launch last year along with the Octavia and Superb contributed to the record sales numbers.
