Scania displays new R 580 V8 Truck and P410 Tipper at Bauma ConExpo

Participating at the Bauma ConExpo 2014, being held at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida from December 15-18, Scania Commercial Vehicles India (SCVI) launched its R 580 V8 (6x4) truck and P410 (8X4) Tipper with all-new 20 cubic metre SSAB body.
At the expo, the truck maker also launched Scania Oil and enhanced telematics services – Scania Fleet Management. On display were also two mobile workshops showing Scania´s flexible container concept for services and repairs in remote places.
Speaking at the Expo, Anders Grundströmer, managing director, SCVI and senior vice-president, Scania Group, said, “This season of Bauma Expo is very significant to Scania as we are launching India’s most powerful on-road truck, the R 580, powered with a V8 engine. We are also updating our product portfolio with the Scania P410 Tipper equipped with an all-new 20 cubic meter SSAB body to withstand the toughest mining conditions. We are also launching Scania Oil for the first time in India to give our customers additional advantage in terms of vehicle performance and uptime. Our Fleet Management Service (FMS) was first displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 and now we are launching it for all our customers in India. With FMS, fleet operators can monitor the vehicle performance in real time, and this gives lot of scope for enhanced safety, productivity and uptime.”
The R 580 6x4 will offer high torque at low speed which is essential for over-dimensional cargo (ODC) transport. The Scania V8 engine is claimed to have excellent drivability, Total Operating Economy and refined vehicle handling and maneuvering qualities.
The P 410 8x4 Tipper is an existing product which will now be equipped with 20 cubic meter rock body developed by one of the world’s leading producer of high strength steel, SSAB. Equipped with Scania Opticruise, a fully automated gear-changing system for best fuel efficiency and ease of driving, will now also come with an option of Idle Shutdown a feature that further strengthens the Total Operating Economy by lowering the fuel consumption. Also, the complete tipper is significantly lower in weight than current offerings in the market, and with the increased load carrying capacity the customer gets a significantly higher productivity.
