Royal Enfield sells 55,082 bikes in June, down 24 percent
. June was the third straight month of falling sales in the new fiscal year.
Chennai-based Royal Enfield is feeling the heat of slowing sales. The company, which not too long ago was averaging monthly sales of 70,000 units, is seeing demand for its midsized motorcycles dip rather rapidly. June was the third straight month of falling sales in the new fiscal year.
In June 2019, sales totalled 55,082 units, down 24 percent year on year (June 2018: 72,588). In May 2019, sales were 60,211 units, down 16.96 percent (May 2018: 72,510) and in April 59,137 units, down 20.7 percent.
With new entrants in the midsized motorcycle space and drawing buyers, Royal Enfield is now tasked with the onerous job of reviving sales, that too barely 9 mionths ahead of the BS VI emission norms kicking in.
