Iconic bike manufacturer Royal Enfield continues to thump out a robust sales performance this year. In May 2015, it has registered domestic sales of 34,615 motorcycles, an increase of 41.23% (May 2014: 24,509). This comes on the back of April’s 42.87% year on year growth.
Q1 2015 has been the best ever quarter at Royal Enfield, Eicher Motors’ standalone business unit, with record sales of 92,845 units, a growth of 44.5% over Q1 2014.
Commenting on Royal Enfield’s performance, Siddhartha Lal, MD and CEO, Eicher Motors, said, “Royal Enfield has maintained a very strong volume growth in Q1 2015 and moves ahead with an extremely healthy order book. We are working very hard towards creating a truly differentiated motorcycling experience across the world. It is also expanding its footprint in India and in key markets across the world, to build its presence globally. We will continue to make higher investments into brand, distribution and globally relevant products that will be essential for us to achieve global leadership in the mid-size motorcycle category.”
Last fortnight, Royal Enfield acquired the UK-based Harris Performance Products Ltd which is one of the leading experts in designing, manufacturing and marketing motorcycle chassis and components. Harris Performance was responsible for the chassis development of the brand’s Continental GT café racer model.
