Automotive Research Association of India certifies AI-enabled electric motorcycle for a 156km range on a single charge.

Revolt Intellicorp, which is set to launch its AI-enabled electric motorcycle in the domestic market in June 2019, has announced that it has completed its homologation process and received approvals from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). With this, the as-yet-not-sighted eco-friendly product has become the first ARAI-certified electric motorcycle.

Revolt Intellicorp, which is set to launch its AI-enabled electric motorcycle in the domestic market in June 2019, has announced that it has completed its homologation process and received approvals from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). With this, the as-yet-not-sighted eco-friendly product has become the first ARAI-certified electric motorcycle.
According to Revolt Intellicorp, it conducted several stringent tests internally to ensure the best combination of performance and aesthetics. The company states, “The product stood true to its promise during the Gradient Ability Test, where went up the incline smoothly at 10.2 degrees. The battery has gone through a foolproof, high-decibel internal testing process including tests performance, cycle life, nail penetration, shock, all-weather and water proofing tests. Owing to this, the lithium-ion battery of the new electric bike from the Revolt stable passed in a single attempt. The ARAI certified range is 156km.
Commenting on the certification, Rahul Sharma, founder of Revolt Intellicorp, said, “When we started developing the product, we had to put together performance, form factor and aesthetics into a powerful package. We invested a lot of time testing it internally to make sure we have a winner before sending it to the ARAI. The speedy ARAI certification is a huge endorsement to our efforts over the last two years.”
Headquartered in Gurgaon, Revolt Intellicorp has a manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. Revolt's first EV for India is expected to cost around Rs 120,000, and after accounting for the FAME II subsidy (Rs 25,000), the electric motorcycle would retail at around Rs 95,000, putting it under the Rs 100,000 mark, which looks to be quite promising.
Interestingly, the company will have more than one offering lined up for the Indian EV market. There are plans to launch its products in three segments – personal, institutional and commercial – with different motors with nominal power up to 4.5kw with a 45amp controller.
In terms of localisation, Revolt Intellicorp is targeting 75 percent localisation when it launches its electric motorcycle in June 2019 and 100 percent localisation by end-FY2020. As earlier announced, bookings for the e-motorcycle will begin in June but the deliveries will only start by September 2019.
