Renault India exports 760 Kigers to South Africa
The first batch of 760 'made in India' Kiger SUVs was despatched from Chennai Port to reach South Africa.
Renault India has begun exports of its sub-4- metre compact SUV Renault Kiger to South Africa. The first batch of 760 made-in-Chennai Kiger SUVs has been despatched from Chennai Port.
Venkatram Mamillapalle, country CEO and MD, Renault India Operations said, “With the launch of the Kiger, Renault forayed in the largest and the fastest growing segment of the Indian automobile market. The commencement of Kiger exports to South Africa today and Nepal earlier this month highlights Renault’s strong commitment to the ‘Make in India’ mission, demonstrating the competence of India’s design, engineering and world class manufacturing capabilities."
He added, "Renault’s diverse range of offerings in passenger vehicles has been consistently well received by the people of South Africa. Our latest offering Renault Kiger will further bolster our existing portfolio in the country with its distinctive SUV look, great space, smart features and world-class sporty engine.”
“We look forward expand the exports of the Kiger to many international markets soon including Indonesia, other parts of Africa and SAARC region, along with growing our customer base in India,” added Mamillapalle.
Renault’s resurgence in India is also due to new SUVs like the Triber and, more recently, the Kiger. As per the company, it has sold a total of 48,970 units in India in the first half of CY2021, which puts the country at No. 8 position in Renault’s Top 15 global markets.
At present, Renault India has more than 500 sales and service touchpoints in India, which include over 200 workshop on wheels locations across the country.
