Ratan Tata to get Frost & Sullivan’s 2014 GIL award

Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of the Tata Group, is to receive Frost & Sullivan’s 2014 Growth, Innovation and Leadership award.

The award will be presented at the business consulting firm’s global flagship event, the Global Community of Growth, Innovation and Leadership (GIL), conducted across 14 countries worldwide, to be held on September 23, at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. Mr Tata will join an elite roster of visionaries, innovators and leaders including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Sir Richard Branson, Mitchell Baker, Jack Andraka, Marc Benioff, Steve Woods, and Judy Estrin, among others, who have been recipients of this award.

“Given the complex and rapidly changing business environment which exists today, companies need more than just a leader; rather a visionary leader who will guide organisations and implement strategies relative to the needs and structure of industries of the future,” said Brian Denker, VP and global head of Growth, Innovation and Leadership, Frost & Sullivan. 

“Mr Tata is an exemplary visionary leader, given his many accomplishments over the years building a diverse, successful and versatile organisation, such as the Tata Group. We are proud to recognise and pay tribute to such a leader who has spent more than 50 years of his career making tremendous strides and contributions to Tata Sons and their conglomerates,” added Denker.
“Under his leadership, Mr Ratan Tata led the Group’s international strategy and grew and aligned its branding into an organisation that defines itself by their way of doing business,” said Aroop Zutshi, global president and managing partner, Frost & Sullivan. “Through hard work, thought leadership and an eye toward innovation and the future, the Group’s success is rooted in Mr Tata’s style of leading from the front lines with a strong conviction and adherence to ethics and moral values that has truly inspired other in India to re-examine their business models and outlook domestically and abroad.”
