Piaggio launches Vespa Urban Club 125 at Rs 72,190
The drum brake-equipped Urban Club is one of Vespa’s most affordable scooters in India.
Piaggio has officially launched the Vespa Urban Club 125 at Rs 72,190 (ex-showroom, Pune), almost a month after the scooter began reaching dealerships. The Urban Club is positioned as one of Vespa’s most affordable models and is available in multiple colour options. The on-road cost for the Urban Club 125 in Pune, meanwhile, is pegged at Rs 88,500. The ex-showroom price in Delhi is said to be slightly higher, at Rs 73,733.
The company says that “its refreshingly colourful 125cc Vespa Urban Club” is available in four colours – Azzurro Provenza, Maze Grey, Glossy Yellow and Glossy Red. However, unlike the more expensive models, the Urban Club uses blacked-out components instead of being finished in chrome or silver colour. The mirrors, grab rails and wheels are black on this variant.
Vespa’s Urban Club is mechanically identical to the blacked-out Notte that was launched in July 2018. It employs the same 125cc, air-cooled engine that produces 9.6hp and 9.9Nm of torque. Both use drum brakes with 10-inch wheels at both ends and come equipped with CBS as standard.
While the new Urban Club and Notte are the most affordable Vespa offerings, they have very basic levels of kit, when compared to similarly priced scooters in India. However, the new-generation of Vespa models attract buyers with their iconic style and premium image, as the value-for-money factor isn’t as much of a concern for their customers.
