Piaggio India today launched the facelifted Aprilia SR 150, Aprilia SR 150 Race, limited edition Carbon SR 150, Vespa, along with introducing mobile connectivity technology for the new range. The company becomes the second OEM in the country to introduce the connectivity feature in its scooter range after TVS Motor Co which introduced it in the TVS NTorq.
The company says the new Aprilia SR 150 Race is inspired from its flagship superbike RS-GP, the new white base scooter gets red-and-green body graphics, along with red 14-inch alloys – which it says is the first of its kind in the category. The scooter comes with adjustable suspension, 220mm disc brake, golden caliper, digital console and tail windscreen, specially designed race theme helmet and factory fitted mobile connectivity feature. The SR 150 Race has a 150cc 3-valve engine, comes with map sensor technology, and is equipped with enhanced CVT gearbox. The Aprilia SR 150 Race is priced at Rs 80,211 (ex-showroom Pune).
The facelifted Vespa is now available in three new colours – Matt Rosso Dragon, Matt Yellow and Azzuro Provenza with machine-cut alloy periphery wheels. The scooter also comes with factory fitted connectivity feature. The Vespa facelift will retail for Rs 91,140 for VXL 150cc and Rs 97,276 for SXL 150cc (ex-showroom pune).
Piaggio India says in line with its strategy for the domestic market to reinvent mobility, it has introduced the mobile connectivity feature that will enable its Vespa and Aprilia customers to control features on their two-wheelers. The user-friendly solution can be accessed via a mobile and will add to the convenience of the customers with features that include – GPS information, emergency contact detail and the ability to locate nearby service centres. The connectivity solution also has a panic alert feature that allows users to reach out to registered contacts configured with the current location to seek help in case of an emergency. The riders can also find, navigate and follow their two-wheelers using this smart connectivity. Through the ‘find-me feature’, users can identify and locate their scooter in ignition-off mode.
The company says through its smart connectivity, riders can also access the vehicle status, locate petrol stations and connect with customer care executives. The smart app is available on both iOS and Android phones.
The Aprilia SR 150 facelift gets four new colours – matt black, blue, glossy red and white – and comes with adjustable suspension. The limited edition Aprilia Carbon SR 150 is inspired by carbon component in high-performance Aprilia track bikes, which the company says represent the theme through Carbon design and aesthetics. The limited edition scooter comes in an all-black theme. The new SR 150 gets a 14-inch large wheel, 220mm disc brake, digital cluster, USB option, connectivity feature in Carbon and an option to fit the same in the SR 150 facelift. The SR150 Carbon and SR 150 Facelift are priced at Rs 73,500 and Rs 70,031 (ex-showroom Pune) respectively.
Additionally, the new all-black limited edition Vespa Notte comes with a 125cc engine and will retail for Rs 68,829 (ex-showroom Pune).
