The 11th edition of Excon, considered South Asia’s largest construction equipment and construction technology trade fair, and scheduled to be held from 17 - 21 May in Bengaluru will showcase some of the latest technologies in the segment including Internet of Things (IoT), telematics, machine learning, embedded systems etc. An announcement in this regard was made during a roadshow which was organised in Mumbai last week.
The trade fair which will be themed on “Building India for a New World: Competitiveness, Growth, Sustainability, Technology' is expected to attract over 1000 exhibitors from India and abroad including countries like the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, UAE, South Korea, Singapore and Sri Lanka. The event will have, for the first time, new categories of exhibitions such as electric vehicles and alternative fuels, the organisers said.
Some of the leading brands taking part include JCB, Volvo, Caterpillar, BEML, Kobelco, Puzzolana, Tata Hitachi, L & T, Schwing Stetter, Sany India, Ammann India, Case New Holland, Doosan, Mahindra, Terex, Wipro, Hyundai, Hailstone, Propel Industries, Manitowoc Cranes, KYB Conmat, Ajax Engineering, Everest Engineering, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Capital, BKT, ARX Mining, MRF, Escorts, Yuken India besides OEMs, components manufacturer, tyres, IT & software, lubricant makers and other allied industry organisations.
Addressing the roadshow, V G Sakthi Kumar, Member, Excon Steering Committee & Managing Director, Schwing Stetter (India) said, “ Excon will exemplify the role of smart technologies and innovation in India's infrastructure development to achieve the vision of making India the global hub for construction equipment manufacturing by 2030".
India is considered the third largest market construction equipment in the world and developments such as the Rs 111 lakh crore National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) project is giving the sector a further impetus. The Construction Equipment industry is expected to reach a size of USD 25 billion by 2030, he added.
Deepak Garg, member, Excon steering committee & Managing Director, Sany Heavy Industry India said the allocation of Rs 20,000 crore in the Union Budget for PM Gati Shakti, the multi-modal connectivity for the states with a focus on roads, railways, airports, ports and waterways besides expansion of 25,000 kms of national highways in 2022-23 would give a key push for infrastructure development in the country”
During a panel discussion at the roadshow, Ranjit Manjarekar, VP (Asset management) at Tata Projects, a leading industrial infrastructure company said that the developmental work is currently happening at the projects such as Gatishakti.
"Today's things are happening very fast at ground level," said Manjarekar, noting that the government will now start releasing the required funds for it.
