Norma Group starts production at second plant in Changzhou, China

The Norma Group, an international market and technology leader for engineered joining technology, has started production in its second manufacturing plant in China in Changzhou, 200km outside Shanghai.

The new facility was set up to meet the greater demand for metal-based joining solutions in the Asia-Pacific region. Spread across 8,000 square metres, the new plant will produce about 45 million pieces of clamps per year for both Western and Asian automotive manufacturers.

“The expansion of our presence in China is an important pillar of our corporate strategy,” says John Stephenson, COO and responsible for the Asia-Pacific region at the Norma Group. “The new facility provides us with a capacity footprint for the future. We are well-positioned to serve the Chinese and Asian markets as they continue to grow and as they implement tighter emissions regulations.” The Norma Group manufactures joining technology that helps customers in the automotive industry comply with tighter emissions standards.

The new plant in Changzhou started with the production of worm drive hose clamps and profile clamps used in exhaust gas systems, charged air applications or cooling systems. Over the next 12 months, the facility will have multiple new metal-based product launches supporting both global and local automotive manufacturers in the Asia region.

The Group opened its first manufacturing site in Qingdao in 2008. It was expanded in 2011 and is now working to its full capacity. In 2013, the Group generated 56 million euros (Rs 456 crore) in sales in the Asia-Pacific region.
