Nissan has announced the start of pre-booking of its Datsun Go+ MPV in India. The Go+, which was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi, will be available for pre-booking between January 3-14 for a refundable amount of Rs 11,000 at all Nissan dealership across India.
The Datsun Go+ is India’s first sub-4-metre compact MPV and is expected to sport a price-tag of a little over Rs 400,000, which is about Rs 30,000 more than the Go, its hatchback sibling. “The Datsun brand stands for affordable mobility and the Datsun GO+ is a product for those families who prefer a bigger vehicle for both in-city and long distance travel for work as well as leisure,” said Guillaume Sicard, president – Nissan India Operations.
Interestingly, with its strength of good cabin and luggage space, the Go+ will also target sedan customers. "With the sub-4-metre length and additional volume, what you get in a sedan is what we are offering in an MPV. So maybe this is going to rewrite whether we need a compact sedan," Sundararajan Krishnan, assistant chief vehicle engineer, Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India, told Autocar Professional. It is to be noted that Datsun already has a sedan model called OnDo, which is available in Russia currently.
