Nissan Motor India has announced that it will discontinue the sales of the X-Trail SUV and 370Z coupe in India. The move comes in the wake of the carmaker’s decision to focus on its locally-manufactured models. However, it will continue to sell the Teana luxury sedan. The company sold just seven X-Trails last year and not a single 370Z. It sold 52 Teanas in calendar year 2013.
Nissan Motor India currently sells the Micra Active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia and Terrano, all of which are manufactured at the company’s plant in Oragadam, near Chennai.
Over a week ago, Nissan Motor India announced that it had terminated its agreement with Hover Automotive, its distributor for Nissan-branded cars in India. A few months earlier, it said it would sell its Datsun range, starting with the Go, slated to debut by the end of March, on its own.
