A day after it discontinued sales of its X-Trail SUV in India, Nissan launched the all-new X-Trail in China, the company’s largest market. A high-volume global model, the X-Trail will be available for sale from Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFL-PV) in late March.
The X-Trail is built on a new modular platform developed by Renault-Nissan that is part of the company's strategy in pursuit of synergy and efficiency in engineering.
The new X-Trail, which made its world debut last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show and currently Nissan's No. 2 best-selling model in the United States, is ultimately expected to be offered in 190 countries worldwide.
China is Nissan's largest market and accounts for one-quarter of the company's global sales. Last year, sales totaled 1.27 million vehicles, a 17.2 percent increase over the previous year.
In conjunction with the announcement of the all-new X-Trail launch, Nissan announced its overall annual sales target – including all passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and imported vehicles – is set at more than 1.40 million units.
