Every drop of water saved helps conserve the precious resource and Nissan India says its innovative car wash technique called 'Foam Wash' has helped save 95 million litres of water since its introduction in service workshops across the country in 2014.
Car washes at service centres are a major component of aftersales and servicing of vehicles which require a large amount of water. Traditional car washes generally require around 160 litres of water to clean one car.
In comparison, the foam wash technique, introduced in 2014 at Nissan service centres, uses only 90 litres of water per car which reduces water consumption by 44 percent. The amount of water saved by the company is equivalent to the water consumption of around 25,000 households in India for one day.
If the saving of water per car is as much as the company claims, then it would be worth sharing the technique with other carmakers in the country and would go a long way towards water savings.
