Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) has notified a recall of its fleet-only Dzire Tour S sedan over an issue of a possible defect in the Airbag Control Unit (ACU) of all such vehicles manufactured between August 6 and August 16, 2022.
The company has said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange that all 166 vehicles have been affected by the suspected ACU issue, which in rare cases, might result in malfunctioning during airbag deployment. MSIL has cautioned owners of the said cars to refrain vehicle usage until the safety-critical part is replaced. While customers can reach the MSIL website to check if their vehicle is part of the recall by entering their vehicle chassis number in the ‘Imp Customer Info’ section, the company will reach out to the affected customers of the CNG and petrol versions of the Tour S and will conduct free-of-cost replacement of the ACU as a rectification measure.
The Dzire Tour S is based on the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire sedan and is now available only for fleet buyers in a petrol as well as bi-fuel petrol-CNG option. The car comes powered by an 83hp, 1.2-litre, K12M, four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. As safety kit, the fleet-only Tour S comes equipped with a factory-fitted speed governor that limits the vehicle top speed to 80kph, as well as a driver-only frontal airbag.
