Maruti Suzuki has announced today that it will recall 75,419 Baleno cars (petrol and diesel), manufactured between August 3, 2015 and May 17, 2016 to upgrade the airbag controller software.

This recalled lot of cars includes 15,995 diesel-engined Balenos manufactured between August 3, 2015 and March 22, 2016 for inspection and replacement of a faulty fuel filter, and also 17,231 units of exports.

In addition, 1,961 Dzire diesel cars (Auto Gear Shift variant) have been recalled for inspection and replacement of a faulty fuel filter.

Starting May 31, 2016 owners of the vehicles covered will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki dealers. The carmakers says the software upgrade and the replacement of faulty fuel filter, will be done free of cost.

Earlier in the month, Maruti Suzuki had also issued a recall to inspect a suspected fault and replace a brake part in 20,427 units of the S-Cross manufactured between April 20, 2015 and February 12, 2016.

The recall of three Maruti Suzuki models in a space of a month takes the total number of company recalls since July 2012 to 291,828 units. The figure does not include the 17,231 units of export models of the Baleno.
