Maruti readies hybrid Swift
Car market leader Maruti Suzuki is developing a hybrid version of the Swift hatchback which will have an electric motor as well as a petrol engine.
Car market leader Maruti Suzuki is developing a hybrid version of the Swift hatchback which will have an electric motor as well as a petrol engine. The three-cylinder, 658cc petrol engine is borrowed from Suzuki, Japan. As per Maruti Suzuki’s internal tests, in pure electric mode, the car offers a 25.5km range and the combined fuel efficiency of the car is 48.2 kilometres per litre.
The lithium ion battery in the Swift takes an hour-and-a-half to be fully charged. The motor powered by it delivers 55 kW or around 74hp.
The green Swift is set to benefit from the expected government support under the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan when it kicks in.
