The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the best-selling entry level sedan in India for the past three years, has crossed the 10 lakh cumulative sales mark this month.
The Dzire was launched in 2008 as a sedan based on the Swift platform, and competed against the likes of the Tata Indigo CS. The second-generation Dzire was introduced in 2012, with the older model being offered to taxi and fleet operators. The second-gen Dzire underwent a facelift this February.
This milestone figure includes units of the second-gen Dzire and the Dzire Tour. The Dzire is now the sixth Maruti model to cross the 10-lakh sales mark, following the Alto (28.3 lakh), 800 (26.7 lakh), Omni (16.8 lakh), Wagon R (16.3 lakh) and Swift (13.6 lakh).
Commenting on the sales milestone, R S Kalsi, executive director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “The Dzire is a complete package. Its refreshed looks, rich equipment list and enhanced fuel efficiency have been warmly received by customers and have enabled us to strengthen sales and enhance share in a tough market.”
