MAHLE develops high-performance EV components for 2- and 3-wheelers in India
MAHLE is to commence local production of electric drive systems by April 2020 at its Coimbatore plant.
MAHLE, the global supplier and development partner to the automotive industry, has recently increased its stake to 90 in its former 50:50 joint venture in India, MAHLE Electric Drives India (MEDI). Sensing the opportunities in the EV market, MAHLE has planned local production of electric drive systems for the Indian market.
The facility located in Coimbatore, will initially manufacture high-capacity motors and controllers for electric two- and three-wheeler segments and will go into commercial production by April 2020, well in time to meet FAME II guidelines. Initially MAHLE will offer 48 V PMSM motors and controllers in the range from 4 to 18 Kilowatts. Subsequently MAHLE will expand its range to cater to high-voltage, high- capacity motors for hybrid cars.
These components, along with other latest innovations, will be showcased at the MAHLE Booth (No. 275) in the upcoming Auto Expo 2020 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi
