Mahindra Treo Zor electric cargo three-wheeler crosses 1,000 sales in India

In what is an indication of the growing demand for electric three-wheelers in India, Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that its Mahindra Treo Zor electric three-wheeler (cargo) has crossed the sales milestone of 1,000 units.

The Treo Zor was launched just about two years after Mahindra Electric launched the passenger-carrying Mahindra Treo three-wheeler. The TreoZor cargo three-wheeler is priced at Rs 273,000 (ex-showroom Delhi, net of FAME 2 and state subsidies).

The Treo Zor comes in 3 variants – Pickup, Delivery Van and Flat Bed. Mahindra Electric claims the TreoZor offers “an excellent value proposition to its owners” in the form of higher savings of over Rs 60,000 a year compared to existing diesel cargo 3-wheelers, which is a result of its maintenance cost of just 40 paise/km. The TreoZor delivers develops 8kW and best-in-class torque of 42 Nm.  Treo Zor also comes with best-in-class payload of 550kg.

The company claims in just six months of its launch, the Mahindra Treo Zor has become India’s No. 1 selling electric cargo three-wheeler and has garnered a market share of 59% in its category.

Launched on October 29, 2020, the Mahindra Treo Zor has disrupted the three-wheeler cargo market in India with best-in-class features and its ability to offer higher savings to its customers. Designed and developed as a last-mile delivery EV, it is built on the proven electric three-wheeler platform, Treo. The Treo Zor is the youngest offering in the company’s electric three-wheeler portfolio.

Commenting on the sales milestone, Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric Mobility said, “Treo Zor has been a game-changer for Mahindra and more importantly for our customers who have decided to lead India’s shift towards e-mobility. With its customer-centric design and efficient performance, Treo Zor offers higher savings that customers expect from a last-mile electric cargo vehicle. We are delighted that it has become the preferred delivery vehicle for leading eCommerce players and their fleet operators. We thank all our customers for choosing Treo Zor and enabling us to attain the leadership position in its segment.”

On February 23, Amazon India announced it has deployed Mahindra Treo Zor electric three-wheelers in seven cities including Bangalore, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore and Lucknow with Amazon India’s network of Delivery Service Partners.

Additionally, the Mahindra Treo range of electric three-wheelers has crossed a sales milestone of 8,000 units and is being sold in over 400 districts across the country. Cumulatively, the Treo range has covered a distance of over 40 million kilometres on Indian roads saving 2,200 metric tonnes of CO2 tailpipe emissions equivalent to planting 100,000 trees required to absorb the same emissions.
