Unveiled at the 10th Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi, it was the first product to roll out from M&M’s Chakan plant. In 2013, a refresh of the Maxximo, the Maxximo Plus, was launched with simple-to-use Fuel Smart technology which allows the user to choose between higher power (26hp) or higher mileage (21.9 km/l) at the press of a switch.
Over the past five years, the Maxximo platform has been expanded to now include the Maxximo Plus and Maxximo CNG in the commercial load carrier segment and the Maxximo Mini Van and Maxximo Mini Van VX in the commercial passenger segment. Put together, the Maxximo series has sold over 240,000 vehicles since its launch.
The Maxximo is also part of M&M’s electric vehicle programme. On January 16, the company announced the launch of the first electric vehicle pilot project under the government of India’s ambitious National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP). As part of the project, four battery-powered Maxximo Electric Vans were handed over to the Agra Development Authority, which will be used along the clean, green Taj Zero Emission Corridor, to help reduce vehicular emissions.
The Maxximo, now christened Maxximo Plus, has a product warranty of 2 years or 60,000km (whichever is earlier). To commemorate the landmark, M&M is offering two customer-centric initiatives for the Maxximo – 3 years or 100,000km warranty (whichever is earlier) on the Maxximo Plus engine and ‘Promise of Same Day Service’ across all its workshops.
According to Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer, Automotive Division, M&M, “The Maxximo has successfully delivered on its promise of being a game-changer by offering world-class technology, best in class safety features, class-leading power and mileage to mini-truck customers. The Maxximo Plus created an enhanced value proposition with the pioneering Fuel Smart technology.”
