Mahindra Truck and Bus (MTB), a part of the Mahindra Group, today launched the Blaxo X HCV range of trucks, an upgrade of its existing Blazo range with a sharpened focus on delivering improved fuel efficiency.
With fuel being a key component of a transporters’ operating cost and diesel prices hitting record highs in recent times, the Blazo X aims to address the rising fuel cost woes of transporters by delivering higher mileage. Plus, there’s the offer of unmatched mileage guarantee of ‘get more mileage or return the truck’.
According to the company, the new Blazo X benefits from improved efficiencies in the vehicle’s air management system, rolling characteristics, and the vehicle’s rotating parts among others. The new Blazo X will be available in all platforms –haulage, tractor-trailer and tipper – and is equipped with the Blazo’s FuelSmart technology. The company says the new Blazo X offers an additional 5 percent mileage over its predecessor.

Speaking at the new product launch in Mumbai, Rajan Wadhera, president, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “The Blazo pushed the boundaries for Mahindra since its launch on several fronts, be it volumes and market share or the industry-first guarantees which laid the foundation for a turnaround of the business. The new Blazo X series of HCV trucks further enhances our customer value proposition of ‘Har Cheez Guarantee Ke Saath’ and will create higher benchmarks in performance and earnings.”
Wadhera further added, “Given the spiraling fuel prices, there wasn’t a better time to introduce the Blazo X, with the benefit of extra mileage.”

With 21,000 Blazo trucks already on Indian roads, our Blazo range of HCVs is well entrenched in important segments such as car carriers, tankers, cement bulkers and the coal industry, with their proposition of best value-for-money brand, mileage superiority and low cost of ownership. Today, MTB is well on its way to becoming a formidable force in the Indian CV market, being the No. 3 player in certain segments and markets. Going forward, we intend to be the number 3 player in the overall HCV segment.”
New axle loads norms drive M&HCV sales
Following the recently announced new axle load norms, the industry is reporting an increase in the share of modern trucks, such as the Blazo, with higher power-to-weight ratio, better aggregates and modern comfortable cabins, which can carry additional loads. They can also make faster trips in the borderless era of GST and deliver higher fuel efficiency and lower maintenance costs.
MTB says it is the No. 3 player in certain segments and markets such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Punjab, Bihar and Jammu & Kashmir in the HCV category. Of the 21,000 Blazo trucks sold in India till now since launch in February 2016, nearly 44 percent of sales have been repeat purchases and have cumulatively covered more than 125 crore kilometres.
MTB says demand for the Blazo range stems from its mileage superiority and low cost of ownership attained through increased oil change intervals, reduced oil cost and a class-leading 6 years/ 600,000km transferable warranty.
In the LCV segment, Mahindra Truck and Bus has a market share of 9.4 percent. It is all set to further strengthen its position all across India with over 2,00,000 vehicles already on the roads.
Expanding sales and service network
Mahindra Truck and Bus has rapidly expanded its aftersales service and spares network which now includes over 100 3S dealerships, 168 authorised service centres, 33 M-Parts Plazas and 2,900 roadside assistance points and spares network of more than 1,600 retail outlets to further improve the reach and support for customers on important trucking routes. The company also boasts of India’s first multi-lingual 24X7 helpline, NOW, which is manned by technical experts to provide instant support to customers and drivers. The NOW mobile service vans and mobile workshops further add to the reach and agility of the support network.
