LEVC to launch TX Shuttle in India
London Electric Vehicle Company partners Exclusive Motors to launch TX with range extender; will also set up a dealership in New Delhi
London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC), the manufacturer and retailer of electric commercial vehicles including the iconic London Taxi, is to open its India innings. It is partnering Exclusive Motors for the India market with the vehicle of launch being the electric TX Shuttle
Alan Gemmell, Her Majesty's Trade Commissioner for South Asia said: “I am pleased that LEVC’s innovative future mobility solutions is embracing the opportunities in India’s dynamic and growing electric vehicle market. The UK and India have ambitious plans to deepen our trade and investment partnership and bring benefits to both economies, and this is a great example of what we can do together.”
The TX is powered by LEVC’s proven eCity technology, zero emissions capable for 101km yet with a flexible range of over 510 km. The eco-friendly vehicle has a spacious passenger environment with six passenger seats, wheelchair accessibility and a purpose-built partition separating the driver from occupants. The TX, according to LEVC, “is the perfect vehicle for city mobility and suburban flexibility.”
The TX is a zero-emission capable vehicle with an onboard charging system and a range extender, which would be helpful for countries like India, which are transitioning from ICE to fully battery-operated vehicles with limited infrastructure and charging stations at the moment but are rapidly developing.
LEVC’s history began in 1908 when the first dedicated black cab was specially designed and commissioned for use in London. In 2018, LEVC introduced its latest model, the electric TX. TX is powered by LEVC’s innovative eCity technology.
Satya Bagla, Managing Director, Exclusive Motors said: “India is an emerging market for the electric vehicles, and there could not be a better time for LEVC to make its foray into the country. The technology, aesthetics and practicality of the vehicle is certain to win over the Indian customers in the days to come.”
