Korea’s Sangsin eyes Indian aftermarket with new Hi-Q brake pads

Korea’s Sangsin eyes Indian aftermarket with new Hi-Q brake pads

Korean automotive brake system manufacturer Sangsin Brake is eyeing business for its brake pads in the Indian aftermarket.

The company, which launched its ‘Hi-Q’ brand brake pads recently, has begun production at its plant in Chennai. The Hi-Q general purpose brake pads and shoes are CE R90-approved and designed for thermal heat dissipationand offer low noise, avoiding squeal and judder.

Sangsin Brake, which displayed the new Hi-Q brake pads at the Auto Expo 2016 in New Delhi in February, has been a supplier to Indian OEMs like Hyundai Motor India, Mahindra & Mahindra, TVS Motor Co and Tier 1 suppliers like Brakes India. At present, it makes aftermarket brake pads suitable for the Hyundai i10, i20, Grand i10 and some Maruti Suzuki cars.

At present, the company produces 250,000 sets of brake pad units a month as OE fitment, with around 65-70 percent procured by Hyundai Motor India.

Back home in Korea, Sangsin supplies brake pads and other brake line products as OE fitments to Hyundai, Kia Motors and SsangYong Motor. Globally, the company has five plants – two each in Korea and China and one in India.
