In FY2021, Kia India sold a total of 155,686 units, notching 83% YoY growth (FY2020: 84,904). The Seltos with 89,173 units was the best-seller, followed by the Sonet with 63,717 units and the Carnival MPV with 2,796 units.
Kia India MD Kookhyun Shim: “To significantly reduce the delivery times on our products, we will be working round the clock at our plant very soon.”
Harpreet Singh Brar: “Right now, the situation is very fluid and uncertain but if everything goes fine, we are looking at anything in the ballpark of 200,000 units by end-FY2022."
Kia has a strategic export strategy. In FY2020, Kia Motors India exported 21,461 units, and bettered it in FY2021 with 40,440 units, an 88% YoY growth.
Kia Motors India plans to hit full-capacity utilisation in 2022 with 201,000 units in domestic market and 99,000 units in exports, and 110,000 units in 2023.
In the past Covid-impacted year, Kia has registered growth only in its home market of Korea and in India.
