A fortnight after it released teaser images of the two all-electric commercial vehicles with which it was to enter the Indian EV industry, Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), the commercial EV arm of Jupiter Wagons Ltd (JWL) today unveiled the two zero-emission products at the Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2023.
The company has launched the JEM TEZ of 2.2 tonne and EV Star CC of 7 tonne GVW and plans to undertake end-to-end production in India and establish service facilities in key markets. The CEVs are targeted at the last-mile delivery segment in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Bangalore initially.
The strategic alliances and partnerships with key foreign and domestic companies that have expertise in the EV sector have further added strength to the brand and its goal is to become the market leader in the CEV segment in India.
JEM has launched two variants of electric-LCVs. The 2.2T JEM TEZ, which the company says has a high-efficiency powertrain, has a certified range of up to 180km on a single charge and gradeability of 23%. The JEM TE=Z, which uses a rapid chargeable LTO chemistry-based battery with over 10 years life (5-year warranty and buyback of Rs 200,000 till 6 years), is telematics-enabled and has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment.
In comparison, the EV Star CC seven-tonner, which uses LFP batteries, has a certified range of up to 250km on a single charge and a gradeability of 22%.
As is known, JEM has entered into a strategic alliance with North America-based GreenPower Motor Company which specialises in commercial EVs in the passenger transportation and freight transport markets. It has also inked strategic partnerships with Log 9 Materials for EV batteries and Xavion Mobility for vehicle design and development.

Jupiter Wagons has manufacturing facilities in Jabalpur, Indore and Kolkata and expertise in mass-scale manufacturing and auto component engineering. The company expects to expand its EV programme to a MCVs, HCVs also buses in the future.
