In its maiden overseas foray, the Gurgaon-based components manufacturer Jumps Auto Industries has acquired German firm Honasco Kunststofftechnik GmbH (Honasco) and its allied companies from the Joerg Schwarzbich Group.
Jumps Auto is engaged in the manufacture of rotating electrical assemblies, including starter motors and alternators at its manufacturing facility in Gurgaon. The company derives 90 percent of its sales from exports and has a footprint in 50 countries worldwide.
Germany’s Honasco is involved in the design, development and manufacturing of complex plastic components, including hybrid parts, thermosetting parts and filtration systems. Honasco products include headrest guides, bearing parts, lumbar support systems, linear guide rails, water pump casings, tolerance adjusters and filters.
Established in 1960, Honasco, which has an employee strength of 130, has manufacturing facilities in Germany and Poland. Its sales turnover during 2013 was euro 25 million (Rs 191 crore). The company’s major clients include Johnson Controls, BSH, Rollax, Grammar, Volkswagen Group and Miele, among others.
Commenting on the first-ever foreign acquisition, Sanjay Malhotra, MD of Jumps Auto, said, "Jumps Auto has been focused on acquiring a technology driven manufacturer of plastic parts for the last few years and this acquisition is a great opportunity to absorb contemporary technologies and grow the business. An additional manufacturing facility is also planned for India in the near future."
Jumps Auto is backed by technologically advanced production facilities in Gurgoan that combine best-in-class infrastructure with cutting-edge knowledge resources. The company, which manufactures products in conformity with global benchmarks and stringent customer specifications, has a track record of being predominantly export-oriented, catering to automakers in developed European and North American markets.
The company also caters to the Indian OE segment and the aftermarket through an all-India distribution network of 120 dealers. Jumps Auto’s Indian product portfolio includes Zen starter drives, Schunk carbon brushes and Nikko heavy duty starters.
The company, which is certified under ISO/TS: 16949: 2002 and has built significant in-house capabilities for the development and engineering of new products and new product lines, including design expertise, project management resources, reverse engineering skills, has
been conferred ‘Star Export House’ status by the government of India. It is also a recipient of the ACMA Trophy for Export Excellence three times over.
