JSW MG Motor launches Comet EV Blackstorm edition  

JSW MG Motor India has today launched the Blackstorm variant of its all-electric Comet hatchback at an ex-showroom price of Rs 780,000 and battery rental of Rs 2.5 per kilometre. The company has positioned the Comet Blackstorm as the top variant.

The key highlights of the new variant are its ‘Starry Black’ exterior along with the black colour theme carried over in the cabin. The Comet Blackstorm is equipped with a 17.4 kWh battery that delivers a certified range of 230 kilometres per charge. According to the company, “customers can further personalise their Comet Blackstorm with an exclusive accessory pack, including a unique badge, wheel cover, and optional styling elements like hood branding and skid plates.”

Commenting on the Comet Blackstorm, Rakesh Sen, Head of Sales, JSW MG Motor India said, “Modern-day Indian car buyers are seeking choices that are unique and are a representation of their personality. They are gravitating towards bolder colour options, that sets them apart and make their choices stand-out. The Comet Blackstorm highlights our dedication of constantly meeting our customers’ evolving needs by regularly refreshing our line-up.”

JSW MG Motor India set to register record EV retails in FY2025
JSW MG Motor India, which wrapped up CY2024 on a very strong note with retails of 21,464 EVs and a 21% market share, is maintaining its rich vein of growth in FY2025.

In January 2025, the car and SUV OEM sold 4,225 EVs, up 251% on a low year-ago base of 1,203 units. This gives it a 37% share of January sales, a three-fold jump from the 14% in January 2024.

For the first 10 months of FY2024, with sales with 22,418 units, up 138% YoY, the company has a market share of 26%, double its 13% EV market share a year ago. Likely to wrap up February 2025 with retails of 3,200-odd units and March 2025 still to come, JSW MG Motor India will likely clock total new EV registrations of over 30,000 units, which will be a new sales record.
