Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has launched the updated Range Rover Evoque with prices starting at Rs 49.10 lakh for the base Pure trim and going up to Rs 64.65 lakh for the top HSE Dynamic trim.

Bookings for the new 2017 Evoque are open at all Land Rover dealerships.

The biggest change as part of the update is the switch from the old 2.2-litre diesel engine to the new 177hp, 2.0-litre Ingenium series diesel engine that debuted in the country earlier this year with the new Jaguar XF. Another big talking point is the introduction of a new 2.0-litre petrol motor to the line-up from next year. As per the company website, the unit will develop 241hp and will be offered in the mid level SE trim only. A nine-speed automatic gearbox will be offered as standard. Bookings for the petrol model are set to open in January 2017.

In terms of tech, the new 2017 model year Evoque gets the addition of the larger 10-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment system on its top variants. Other equipment on offer includes a 825W Meridian surround sound system, gesture tailgate opening, surround camera system and adaptive LED headlamps.

Land Rover has also introduced a limited run Ember Edition on the top HSE Dynamic trim priced at Rs 67.90 lakh. The special edition Evoque gets a unique red and black exterior and interior package to set it apart from the standard model.

The Evoque has no direct rivals though its pricing puts it within the range of SUVs such as its cousin, the Land Rover Discovery Sport, the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5.
