Four-and-a-half months since FCA India launched its locally manufactured Jeep Compass, the SUV has crossed the 10,000 sales mark in the domestic market. In October, the first export batch comprising 600 units was shipped to Japan and Australia.
The locally manufactured Jeep Compass has helped FCA India Automobiles open its market share account in the booming utility vehicle (UV) segment in the country. Between August and November 2017, the SUV, has sold a total of 10,389 units (see sales table below). This has given the Italian manufacturer a 1.74 percent market share in the April-November 2017 period in the UV segment.
According to Kevin Flynn, president and MD, FCA India said, “The Jeep Compass is proving to be a popular SUV in a short span of time. We are indeed proud to cross the 10,000 sales milestone and we are confident to continue with this great momentum in 2018 as well.”
He added, “Customers have appreciated the competitive price positioning of the Jeep Compass since launch. Effective January 1, 2018, prices will increase by 2-4 percent, except for the entry level variant, which will be maintained at Rs 15.16 lakh (ex-showroom).”
FCA India offers three premium trims in the Jeep Compass range – Sport, Longitude and Limited. The SUV is offered in 10 variants with 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and 1.4-litre turbo petrol Multiair powertrain options, with 4x4 and 4x2 derivatives available in the range. The Jeep Compass, across the range, comes with a three-year / 100,000km manufacturer warranty and a service cycle of 15,000km / 1 year.
On November 23, the company had issued a recall for 1,200 units of the Jeep Compass, manufactured between September 5 and November 19, 2017. The move is part of a global recall announced on November 22 that affects 7,000 units of the SUV in the US and around 1,000 units in Canada and Mexico.
