JCB to set up fourth India plant in Jaipur

November 5, 2012: JCB, leading manufacturer of construction equipment, has signed a land purchase agreement with the Rajasthan government. With an investment of Rs 500 crore, JCB India will set up its fourth manufacturing facility on a 70-acre site in Jaipur. This marks the beginning of a new expansion phase for JCB India.

“India has been an extremely crucial market for JCB and we have made huge investments in setting up our manufacturing base at strategic locations in the country. This will be JCB’s fourth manufacturing footprint in India. With the pro-business approach of the state government, Rajasthan is a preferred location for business as it offers a big basket of opportunities to industries across sectors” said Sir Anthony Bamford, JCB chairman (pictured with the chief minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot).

Rajasthan, a well-known tourist destination, has emerged as a promising business destination as well. Due to recent infrastructure development in terms of energy and connectivity, the state has seen a sudden upsurge in investment from various companies.

Ashok Gehlot, chief minister of Rajasthan, said: “We welcome JCB’s decision to invest in Rajasthan. We are confident that such initiatives will strengthen the manufacturing sector in the state and enhance growth. We will continue to support JCB in strengthening its business in Rajasthan. We wish JCB even greater success here in Rajasthan.”

JCB’s other three factories in India are in Ballabgarh, Haryana and two in Pune. The Ballabhgarh plant is the world’s largest backhoe loader facility which also manufactures the JCB lift-all pick-and-carry crane. Of the two plants in Pune, one manufactures export-oriented fabrications and components and the other heavy equipment like tracked excavators, wheeled loaders and compactors. JCB is also using its India base to export to Eastern Africa, the Middle East and South-East Asia.
