The International Transportation Electrification Conference India organised the first edition of iTEC India 2019 Hackathon to further the government of India's vision 'Electric Mobility 2030. The team named Praxians was the winner of this edition with their solution for , ‘Making Energy Efficient EVs of the future.’ They were awarded a prize of Rs 100,000. The runner up team, Safety First, from Mahindra Electric which presented the solution to the problem statement ‘Safer the better: How do we make future of EVs a safer mode of transport?’, won Rs 50,000.
A platform for people to ideate and come up with innovative and unique solutions for India-specific problems related to transportation and electrification, this Hackathon was aimed at promoting new/unique ideas in this sector, provide a platform for start-ups, entrepreneurs and facilitate conversations on the relevant problem statements of the industry.
The 10 finalists of the iTEC India 2019 Hackathon were judged by an eminent panel of jurists including Girish Ramaswamy, Head of Systems Engineering, Continental Automotive, Arun Kumar Sampath, Mahindra Electric and Dr Neelakantan, Senior General Manager - Technical, 3M India.
The final 10 teams, which were shortlisted from over 90 applicants, included a mix of start-ups, students and professionals discussing their solutions to the six problem statements on electric vehicles, ranging from mobility and safety to sustainability and efficiency for the ecosystem.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Arun Sampath, Mahindra Electric said, “We have deliberately oriented the problem statements more towards the community.”
Both the winner and runner-up teams will get an opportunity to present their solutions during iTEC India Conference, to be held on December 17-19 in Bangalore, in front of CXOs of leading automotive and technology giants.
