Currently, there are around 4 million M&HCVs on the roads. An increase in rail freight will take around 400,000 M&HCVs off Indian roads.
By transporting vehicles by using the railways, OEMs can reduce their logistics costs by as much as 15-40%. Improved railcar design, specialised railcars, and other factors have helped increase the amount of freight railroads carry.
