BMW India, which had recently increased the level of localisation at its India plant and in its stable of locally produced cars by upto 50 percent, has announced new vehicle prices.
Up to eight car models can be locally produced on two assembly lines at BMW Plant Chennai. At present the facility produces the 1 Series, 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3 and the X5.

Some of the major auto components sourced for local production of cars are the engine and transmission from Force Motors; axles from ZF Hero Chassis; door panels and wiring harness from Draexlmaier India; exhaust systems from Tenneco Automotive India; heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC) and cooling Modules from Valeo India and Mahle Behr, and seats from Lear India.

We have created a win-win situation for our customers with a wide range of products and now equally attractive value proposition with ‘Make in India’.”
