The International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar, one of the leading independent testing agencies certifying agencies for automobiles and safety critical components In India, has signed an MoU with Korea Intelligent Automotive Parts and Promotion Institute (KIAPI), Korea yesterday in Daegu City of South Korea.
The MoU signed by Dinesh Tyagi, director, iCAT and MyungHo Sung, president, KIAPI, is to support the Korean automotive industry for getting Indian certification of safety critical components as well as vehicles.
KIAPI is a vehicle testing institute, which supports parts suppliers, vehicle manufacturers and research institutes for developing next generation automotive technology. KIAPI is actively working on the development and validation of next-generation vehicles.
iCAT says as a result of this MoU, it has demonstrated a high level of orientation towards providing its services globally by supporting overseas automotive manufacturers. Apart from Indian certification, as per various Indian and Automotive Industry Standards (AIS), iCAT will also collaborate with KIAPI in the field of future technologies that include autonomous driving, electric vehicles, connected transportation, fuel-cell vehicles and ADAS among others.
Commenting on the MoU signing, Dinesh Tyagi, said: “We look forward to a long-term business relationship with Korean Industry through KIAPI. We envisage more collaboration with KIAPI beyond Indian certification. We would like to collaborate with KIAPI for research-oriented projects in the field of emerging and future technologies.
MyungHo Sung, said “We have state-of-the-art proving grounds and expertise to develop advanced technologies in the field of automotive. So, after signing the MoU with iCAT, both the organisations will be able to provide services of certification as well as R&D. This will also help the Korean automotive industry to collaborate with Indian automotive industry through the services of ICAT.”
The partners will also work towards enhancing awareness about future technologies in India and supporting the government of India for the formulation of regulations and creating testing Infrastructure within the country.
