Two digester tanks of 2-tonnes capacity each and one hydrolysis tank are engaged in anaerobic decomposition of food waste into methane gas by enzymes and microorganisms.
A biogas-fuelled generator is fed with the methane gas produced from the plant. The site can generate 200kW of electricity every day.
An all-women team scientifically segregates dry waste and salvages recyclable items such as paper cups, cardboards and tin cans, among others.
Tin cans are compressed using a bailing machine and salvaged to be recycled by registered recyclers.
