The company has cited “potential issue in the integrated charging control unit (ICCU), which may discharge the 12V battery,” as the reason for the recall.

Hyundai Motor India has issued a voluntary recall for 1,744 units of the all-electric Ioniq, manufactured between July 21, 2022 and April 30, 2024. The company has cited “potential issue in the integrated charging control unit (ICCU), which may discharge the 12V battery,” as the reason for the recall.
This is the first ever recall for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which was launched in the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2023 on January 11, 2023. In FY2024, as per SIAM wholesales data, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 sold a total of 1,400 units.
Hyundai Motor India retails two EVs in India: the Kona Electric and the Ioniq 5. The Kona has been recalled thrice – on December 3, 2020 (456 units), December 8, 2020 (456 units) and March 10, 2021 (530 units) – comprising a total of 1,442 units. While the first and third recalls were to check the high-voltage battery system, the second recall was to inspect the Integrated Electronic Brake system.
Since the rollout of SIAM’s Code of Voluntary Recall in July 2012, Hyundai Motor India has recalled a total of 45,839 cars and SUVs including the latest one for the Ioniq 5.
