The Rs 85,000 crore bonanza that has accrued to the 1 crore central government employees and pensioners will have positive spin-offs for car manufacturers in the automotive industry.

A key beneficiary will be Hyundai Motor India that is targeting the 47 lakh central government staffers and over 50 lakh pensioners who are set to gain in terms of a big pay and pension hike ranging between 14.3 percent to 23.6 percent.

While not giving any targeted sales figure, a Hyundai spokesperson told Autocar Professional that a sum of Rs 7,000 would be the additional discount offered to central government staffers and pensioners under the Pride of India scheme. This would be added to the ongoing discounts that are available on Hyundai cars.

A sales executive in Koncept Cars India told Autocar Professional that except for the Creta SUV and the i20 models, all the other Hyundai cars were offering a discount scheme till 30 June. In July a new scheme is expected to be on offer.

The Grand i10 is offering the highest discount currently to prospective customers on purchase of new cars with a free insurance of Rs 16,700 on the base variant, along with an extended third year warranty. Till now the car offered a two-year warranty.

An exchange bonus of Rs 30,000 is also present on the car in lieu of an old car along with a loyalty bonus of Rs 10,000. The top variant of the car offers a free insurance amounting to Rs 22,870.

The lowest discount scheme is available on the Hyundai i10 of free insurance ranging between Rs 15,225 to Rs 16,800. An exchange bonus of Rs 20,000 is also on offer on the car. In addition, it will attract the Rs 7,000 discount for government employees and pensioners.
